She brought African music to a Western audience, and popularized the world music and Afropop genres. Her performances at Estival Lugano is beyond incredible. Her voice, the power and the soul summarizes her musicality in 40 minutes, together with her band and extremely talented backing-vocals.

In 1986, Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval brought his band with him to the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague. Among the performing artists is the German, Berlin-based drummer and composer Tilo Weber. Having studied drums and composition in Berlin and Hamburg respectively, Weber now presents his own quartet, Four Fauns, which focuses on the drummer's original compositions. Tilo Weber is joined by vocalist Almut Kühne, trumpeter Richard Koch, and double bassist James Banner.

In 2024, jazzahead! paid special attention to the jazz scene of the Netherlands and invited over forty jazz acts to perform over the course of three days. Among the projects presenting themselves at jazzahead! 2024 is the collaboration of the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra with Greek/Norwegian vocalist, lyricist, and composer Marianna Sangita Roe. Annually, the Molde Jazz Festival offers a Norwegian musician or band the opportunity to create a new project with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. Marianna Sangita Roe was the recipient in 2021. Her commissioned work, 'Spiti/Hjem', blends diverse musical elements and features an array of instruments including the oud, saz, tablas, joik, accordion, saxophone, tuba, drum kit, cello, fiddle, cajon, and various frame drums. This group was called the All Stars, and in 1964 Louis Armstrong recorded his biggest-selling record, Hello, Dolly! He made assorted television appearances, especially in the 1950s and 1960s - the recorded film was a TV Show in Australia when Armstrong was at the peak of his career. Armstrong kept up his busy tour schedule until a few years before his death in 1971. He also toured Africa, Europe, and Asia under sponsorship of the US State Department with great success, earning the nickname 'Ambassador Satch'.

Although the festival's name suggests a strong focus on piano music, it featured countless famous musicians from jazz and classical music - not just pianists. The concerts were usually held in July at The Gasteig, home of the Munich Philharmonic. In 1984, Japanese jazz pianist Makoto Ozone was one of the artists appearing here. Having recently graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, Ozone performed a mesmerizing solo concert for the festival's audience. Today, Ozone is among the most recognized Japanese jazz musicians in the world.
